Demjatské hory - Vápeníky is a nature reserve in the administration of the state nature conservation Prešov.
It is located in the cadastral territory of the village Demjata, Veľký Slivník in the okr. Prešov in the Prešov Region. The object of protection is the thermophilic vegetation of the limestone cliffs of the brackish zone in the eastern part of the Šariš Highlands with the occurrence of several rare plant species and palaeontological findings for scientific research and educational purposes. The nature reserve consists of limestone hills scattered in the agricultural landscape. They are part of the brackish zone and, surrounded by flysch uplands, they significantly increase the diversity of the landscape. Thermophilic and arid-loving communities have developed on the fertile substrate. Among the rarer tree species, we can find the common dogwood (Cornus mas), the common barberry (Berberis vulgaris), the common birch (Sorbus torminalis). Herbs include Linum tenuifolium, Pulsatilla grandis, Aster amelloides and Anemone sylvestris. The red ragwort (Echium rubrum)- a Pannonian species, here it has the northernmost locality in Slovakia.
