Transport

Car transport

Car transport is one of the most convenient ways to explore the Šariš region. The dense network of Class I, II and III roads connected to expressways and motorways allows easy access to towns, historical monuments, natural sites and tourist attractions. Travelling by car provides great flexibility in planning trips and exploring the less accessible places of the region. Thanks to good road connections, Šariš is also easily accessible from other parts of Slovakia and the Polish border region.
Expressways
Expressway R4 is a 144km long expressway in Slovakia, which, when completed, will connect the state border with Poland near the village of Vyšný Komárnik with Svidník, Prešov, Košice and the state border with Hungary near Milhosti. Currently, the right side of the Svidník bypass and the first stage of the Prešov bypass are in operation. Work is in progress on Stage II of the northern bypass of Prešov.

By connecting important cities in the region, it speeds up transport and comfort for both locals and tourists.
Highways
Highway D1 is the longest Slovak motorway, which, when completed, will connect Bratislava with Zahor near the state border with Ukraine.
The D1 motorway route starts in Bratislava and continues through Trnava, Trenčín, Žilina, Martin, Poprad, Prešov, Košice and Michalovce to Zahor. When crossing the motorway it is necessary to purchase a motorway vignette.

The D1 motorway improves accessibility for tourists and transit traffic.
Parking
Parking in the Šariš region is available in most towns, villages and at tourist sites and attractions. In larger towns such as Prešov or Bardejov, there are public parking lots and parking zones.
