Who are we?

The Regional Tourism Organisation Šariš Region is a destination management organisation focused on the development of sustainable tourism in the Šariš region. It supports and creates conditions for the development of tourism, including marketing, promotion and networking of its members.

OOCR Region Šariš supports cultural, social, sporting activities and the preservation of natural and cultural heritage. It provides advisory and consultancy services, etc.

Why is Šariš special?

Castles and manor houses

Šariš boasts the highest concentration of castles and manor houses in Slovakia. The stone guardians of history offer unique views, stories of nobility and medieval battles.

Wooden churches and religious tourism

The unique wooden churches of eastern Slovakia, many of them UNESCO listed, make Šariš a strong centre of religious tourism. Silence, spirituality and architecture you won't find anywhere else.

Mining

Šariš is the cradle of opal, gold and mining history of world importance. Opal mines are unique in Europe and globally.

Four dialects, one region

Slovak, Shari language, Romani and Ruthenian meet in a small area. A linguistic diversity that you may not understand, but you will certainly feel it.

Natural beauty

From the Opal Mines, through healing mineral springs, to the Cerkhov - wild and untouched nature. Šariš is ideal for those looking for peace and adventure.

Prešov, Sabinov and Veľký Šariš - towns with royal privileges, rich history and lively culture that shaped the whole region.

Our vision for the development and future of the Šariš region

Our vision is to develop the Šariš region as an attractive and sustainable area that exploits its cultural, historical and natural potential. We support the cooperation of municipalities and partners in order to improve the quality of tourism, strengthen the reputation of the region and protect its values. Our aim is long-term and balanced development that will benefit the region and its inhabitants.
