Centre of Folk Culture Krivany

The Centre of Folk Culture in Krivany was opened in 2009. The centre exhibits the collection objects of Ján Lazorík, who tried to gather as many exhibits as possible in this space, characterising the folk tradition of the picturesque Šariš region. In the area of the centre there are several typical monuments of folk architecture, such as authentic wooden granaries and a reconstructed classic wooden house, inside equipped with proper folk furniture. There is also a craftsmen's yard, where tools related to various trades are on display, and an exhibition of traditional costumes in the municipal office building. The wooden amphitheatre with a covered stage, where the Hornotory Folklore Festival is held every year on the second weekend in August, is an integral part of the museum. The continuous promotion of folk art is also indispensable in the form of charming wooden sculptures, which are the result of the work of a local carver, placed not only in the area of the Centre of Folk Culture, but also in the area of the village's intravilán.
