The Centre for Folk Culture in Krivany It opened in 2009. Items from the collection are on display at the centre Ján Lazorík, who endeavoured to bring together as many exhibits as possible in this space to illustrate the folk traditions of the picturesque Šariš region.
A venue brimming with culture and traditions
The centre’s grounds are home to several typical examples of folk architecture, such as authentic wooden granaries and a restored traditional log cabin, furnished inside with authentic folk furniture. There is also a crafts courtyard, where craft and technical tools relating to various activities are on display, and an exhibition of traditional costumes can be viewed in the village hall.
Annual festival
An integral part of the site is a wooden amphitheatre with a covered stage, where, every year on the second weekend in August, the following takes place: Upper Torysian Folk Festival. The ongoing promotion of folk art plays an irreplaceable role, particularly in the form of enchanting wooden sculptures created by local woodcarvers, which are displayed not only within the Folk Culture Centre but also throughout the village.
