A tour combined with adventure!
The exploration of the uniqueness of the Šariš region will begin on the agreed date, when the best guides will be waiting to take you through the basic tour of the opal underground. The tour is 1 km long and takes about an hour. But you will learn much more in this lesson than in one hour in the classroom. Right from the start you will find yourself in stratovolcano and you will recognize Svinicky fault, beautifully visible Pyroplasty. From geology, you will move seamlessly into history and get acquainted with the fates of opal mine tenants, searchers for rare opal, legends and the golden Goldschmid era. You will learn something about the patron saint of miners and then you will get to know the underground eminence, the intermediate horizons, the blind bases, you will understand how and with what our forefathers tried for centuries to extract the gem from the extremely hard andesite rock. From a technical point of view, you will understand how it was possible to ventilate the underground or pump water out of the now flooded passages. You will be reminded of the natural history with examples of the accompanying minerals, which were also a kind of compass for the miners in their search for opal, as well as with examples of the wood, which is still solid even after a hundred years in the damp underground. Test your courage and orientation with man adrenaline rush in a corridor with absolute darkness, where you can only find your way with the help of a rope attached to the wall.
