Under the Mativka hill in the village of Vyšný Komarnik there are 19 military bunkers of the headquarters of the 3rd Czechoslovak Brigade, which are part of the Dukla Battlefield National Cultural Monument.
In the period from 18-24 November 1944, the commander's headquarters was located in these zemlianki, which organized and directed the fight for the eastern Carpathians, ensured synergy with neighboring Soviet units and protected the security of the left wing of the Czechoslovak corps of the Soviet army. The underground shelters with narrow entrances were occupied by 8 to 10 soldiers. The municipality restored 16 military bunkers as part of the project Museum exhibition in nature - restoration of the bunkers of the Czechoslovak Brigade headquarters.
Access to the bunkers is along a well-maintained forest path and all ages can easily visit them.
The military bunkers can be found by turning off the main road to the village Vyšný Komarník, in front of the entrance to the village, in the hill.
