Cave of the Bad Hole

Cave of the Bad Hole

The Zlá Děrra cave was formed thanks to the limestone and dolomite that overlie here mainly from the Bachureň sandstone mountain range. Zlá Dìra is the only known and accessible cave in the territory of the Prešov district near the village of Lipovce (also called Zlá DŽURA cave in Shariština). Its uniqueness among the Slovak caves is in the visit and tour. The entrance is in a helmet and since it is not illuminated, the visitor can shine with traditional caving carbides or his own light.

Colony of bats

Around 250 bats, which zoologists classify into 12 species, hibernate in the cave. The most numerous are the small horseshoe bat and the big bat. The basic route takes about 40 minutes. It is physically undemanding, suitable even for small children. Sturdy shoes and warmer clothing are necessary (it is 7 degrees in the cave).
