In Prešov, a modern cycle lane near the University of Prešov was opened. At the same time, a new associated walkway was created in this location, which connects the footbridge with the nearby Mlynský náhon cycle path. The footbridge and the footpath together create a functional space, which is intended for both pedestrians and cyclists.
The new footbridge connects the ice rink with the left bank of the Torysa River. It is located in the same place as the original footbridge, while the connection to the Mlynský náhon cycle path was also built as part of the implementation. In the part from Kúpeľná Street to the Torysa River, a two-way cycle path of 83 m was added. In the part along the Torysa River up to the new footbridge, a combined pedestrian and cycle path of more than 194 m was created. Along the combined walkway, bays with benches, bicycle baskets and bicycle racks have been created.
The load-bearing structure of the new footbridge consists of a steel main girder, interconnected cross members and a steel arch girder with steel hinges. The structure is 5,5 metres wide. The floor of the bridge structure consists of a reinforced concrete slab. On both sides of the bridge there is a 1,3 metre high steel railing. In the middle span of the footbridge, under the steel arch beam, there are benches and bicycle racks where visitors can rest.
