Massif and Lookout Tower Balažka

Massif and Lookout Tower Balažka

Mountain massif Balazka (643 m above sea level) is interesting from several points of view. There used to be an old Jewish cemetery under the railway embankment in the part of Balažka-Štrembroch. Its origin can be attributed to the arrival of the first Jews from Polish Halych around 1813, and it was used until the end of the 19th century. The cemetery has not been preserved and is commemorated by an information board. The massif is flanked by the railway line, which in the eastern part divided the rock into the so-called „Little Rock“ and the "Big Rock". This created two basic tourist circuits. The Mala skala circuit offers a view from the cross. There is an Italian well, partisan trenches, seating and information boards. The Veľká skala circuit offers a route along the Balažka ridge, with both routes interconnected and with several connection points. In October 2019, the Balažka lookout tower was inaugurated, which is 14 m high and provides the most beautiful view of the whole of Lipany and the surrounding hills. You can also find information about the Balažka lookout tower on the website kamnavylet.sk. There are many other interesting attractions in the region. We recommend to visit the following subpages, castles, water parks, cycling routes, wooden churches, historical monuments, for families, manor houses and castles, Museums, hiking, spa and wellness.
