Ski resort Ski Drienica

Ski Drienica It is one of the well-known ski resorts in the Sabinov area and offers winter sports in a pleasant mountain setting the Čergov Mountains. It is situated in the village of Drienica, at an altitude of approximately 555 to 740 metres. The site is particularly suitable for visitors from Sabinova, Prešov and the wider region of eastern Slovakia, who are looking for an affordable destination for a day’s skiing or a winter break lasting several days.

The resort is characterised by a more intimate atmosphere and a range of slopes that appeal to both beginners and more experienced skiers. There are slopes of varying difficulty, and there is also a dedicated area for children and those who are just getting to grips with skiing.

Ski slopes and ski lifts

Ski Drienica has four ski lifts with a total transport capacity of approximately 2,540 people per hour. The total length of the slopes is approximately 2.45 kilometres and the runs are equipped with snow-making facilities. The highest point of the resort is at an altitude of approximately 740 metres, representing an elevation gain of around 185 metres.

One of the resort’s advantages is its wide, gently sloping run, which is suitable for beginner skiers. The resort is therefore also used by ski schools and for organised ski courses. More experienced visitors can choose from more challenging sections and, depending on current snow conditions, also enjoy off-piste terrain.

Skiing for beginners and children

Ski Drienica is an attractive option, particularly for families with children and people who are new to skiing. The resort features two smaller ski lifts designed for beginners to take their first runs and gradually gain confidence on skis. The resort also works in partnership with ski schools that offer downhill skiing lessons.

It is precisely this easier access and the gentler slopes that make Ski Drienica an ideal place for a child’s first skiing experiences. Children can learn the basics in an area where they do not have to tackle challenging slopes straight away. There is also a special offer available for organised school trips.

Night-time skiing

Ski Drienica also offers night skiing. The floodlit runs allow you to enjoy the resort even after dark, extending your day on the slopes. In the most recent published season, night skiing was available from 5.00 pm to 9.00 pm. However, current operating hours are always subject to the specific season, weather and snow conditions.

Night-time skiing can be an interesting alternative for people who work or study during the day. This means you can arrive at the resort as late as the afternoon and still enjoy a few hours on the slopes.

Ski school and courses

Ski Drienica has long specialised in ski instruction. The resort states that it is well-suited to ski courses, with its advantages including a wide, gently sloping run, two children’s ski lifts and its proximity to accommodation facilities. Special arrangements can therefore be made for schools and organised groups.

Ski hire and repair shops

Visitors who do not have their own skiing or snowboarding equipment do not need to invest in a full set of gear just to visit the resort. Ski Drienica has two hire shops where you can hire the necessary equipment for both skiing and snowboarding. There’s even a sled available.

The package also includes a repair service, so visitors can have any basic problems with their equipment sorted out right at the resort. For beginners, the combination of a hire shop and a ski school is particularly handy on their first visits, when they don’t yet want to buy their own equipment.

Cross-country skiing and winter activities

The area around Drienica also has plenty to offer cross-country skiing enthusiasts. There are approximately five kilometres of groomed cross-country trails within the resort and its surroundings. However, the availability of the trails depends on current snow conditions and maintenance.

The mountainous terrain of Čergov also provides ideal conditions for other winter activities. When planning a trip, however, it is important to check the current snow conditions, as conditions in the mountains can change significantly throughout the season.

Parking and Accessibility

Ski Drienica is easily accessible by car, and free parking is available for visitors near the ski lifts.

When planning a visit during the winter season, it is advisable to bear in mind that the availability of parking spaces and the route to the resort may be affected by the weather, particularly during heavy snowfall.

A destination for families and keen skiers alike
