The synagogue is located in the centre of Raslavice, north of the main village road.
The Jewish community experienced its greatest boom in the village in the middle of the 19th century, when it was the seat of the rabbinate, at that time it had about 270 members. By the end of the century, however, the majority had moved to larger towns.
The current synagogue building was built in the 1930s on the site of an older synagogue. However, it served its purpose only briefly, as almost all members of the Jewish community were deported during World War II.
After the war the building was used as a warehouse and shop. In the years 2021-2022 it underwent a complete reconstruction.
Today it serves as the Gallery of Folk Art of the Upper Sariš region and a cultural and educational space of the municipality of Raslavice.
The building is a national cultural monument owned by the Central Union of Jewish Religious Communities in the Slovak Republic and administered by the municipality of Raslavice.
