Kamenná Hora Lookout Tower

Above the city Bardejov the wooden one is switched off Kamenná hora Lookout Tower, which offers a magnificent view of the town in the valley and the surrounding forests. Thanks to its easy access, it is a popular destination for family outings in the area around Bardejov and Bardejovské Kúpele.

What the Kamenná Hora Lookout Tower has to offer

The observation tower is 9.6 metres high and has two storeys, the upper one of which is covered. On the first floor, there are three information boards focusing on nature and its conservation – children can use them to playfully match the leaves of the most common tree species, identify the tracks of forest animals, or learn about nature reserves in the Bardejov area. The site also features a shelter with tables and benches for around 15–20 people, and next to it a fire pit with seating where visitors can have a barbecue.

The surrounding area offers plenty of opportunities for active leisure – from barbecues by the campfire, to educational boards for the little ones, right through to linked walking and cycling routes for the more experienced.

How to get to the observation tower

The observation tower is a prominent feature of the lower part of Kamenná hora and is situated between the town of Bardejov and Bardejovské Kúpele. It is easily accessible via the red tourist trail (main route), which connects the town with the spa – you can reach it comfortably from either direction. The route is easy and suitable even for families with young children.

A suggestion for a day out in the local area

You can combine a visit to the observation tower with other attractions in the Bardejov area. Along the route or nearby, you’ll find Bardejov Spa, Bardejovské Kúpele Open-Air Museum featuring examples of traditional architecture, and linked cycle routes – for example Herkules singletrack. History buffs can extend their trip to include a visit to the nearby the ruins of Zborov Castle.

Information

The Kamenná hora observation tower is situated between Bardejov and Bardejovské Kúpele, and is marked by a red tourist sign.

From Bardejov, the easy walk takes around 45 minutes along a 3.5 km route; from Bardejovské Kúpele, the route is shorter – about 1 km and 20 minutes; You can park in the public car parks in the town or in the spa complex.

The observation tower is open to the public free of charge and around the clock; visitors will find a rest area, a campfire site, a swing and information boards there.
