Kendice Cross

Get to know the locals' favourite place from Kendice - Kendice district. The trail starts and ends at the railway station in Kendice. The whole trail measures approximately 8 km. It is well marked with the NCH sign. This trail is easy, accessible to all nature lovers and families with children. As the trail leads through forest terrain, a porter is recommended for smaller children.

During the walk, stop at the 6 information boards. Each of them brings different knowledge. You will learn about the history of the railway station in Kendice, about the history of the village of Kendice, or about the natural community in the Kendice district.

The nature trail is also accompanied by a cross path. At the top of the trail is Kendice Cross. It was consecrated on 5 June 1933 by the Franciscan friars who administered the parish of Kendice at that time. In 1991, the priest Fr. Ján Sedlák, who administered the parish of Kendice, organized a so-called pilgrimage to this cross. It has become a tradition and is organised every year in September on the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

This pilgrimage site with a cross is nicely landscaped, where you will be welcomed by a shelter with benches, fireplaces and towards the west from the edge of the forest and nice views of the Šarišská vrchovina and Čierna hora.

Access to the site is possible from the village of Kendice or from Haniska.
