Wooden Church of St. Michael the Archangel, Šemetkovce

The temple was built in 1752. During the military operations of the Carpatho-Dukla operation, during the tank battle, in the valley of death, in October and November 1944, the church was damaged. The citizens of the village contributed to its restoration in 1945. Since 1968 the church has been a national cultural monument.
The tower of the church is topped with a poppy with a tambourine and a forged metal cross, which grows out of the structure of the building. The two-tiered tented roofs over the sanctuary and nave are topped by conical turrets covered in shingles with wrought-iron crosses. The entire log cabin, like the other wooden churches on the exterior, is clad in vertically laid boards with moldings that were restored in 2001. In front of the church portal there is a small entrance hall, the roof of which is also covered with shingles.
In the interior of the church, the remains of wall paintings have been preserved on the walls. The Baroque four-row wooden iconostasis with a tsar's door is from the 2nd half of the 18th century. Some of the icons incorporated into the iconostasis are from an earlier period. The iconostasis and the altar were restored in 1969-1970. It was restored again in 2005. On the altar there are so-called miniature antique columns and there is a small tabernacle with an icon of the Virgin Mary.
The bell tower with three bells from the second half of the 20th century was built in the 19th century and is located on the site of the bell tower from the 18th century To the north-west of the temple there is a massive wooden bell tower built on a raised stone foundation (NKP). The construction is columnar. A cross with a three-armed simple cross is set on top. In the belfry there are three bells, from 1971, 1948 and 1970.
