Above the village on the hill Hrad are still visible remains of the medieval settlement. The first written record of the castle above Kysak dates back to 1335. The castle belonged to the Drien branch of the Ab family and was probably intended to guard the passage through the narrow Hornád valley. It was probably built in the second half of the 13th century. It is not known when the castle disappeared. But at the earliest sometime in the late 15th century after the extinction of the family, the castle became royal. It is worth mentioning that in documents, but also in people's consciousness, the castle is often associated with the name of the Hungarian ruler Matthias Corvinus, who often hunted here. In 1991-1993, an archaeological survey was carried out, all the ceramic and metal fragments found were professionally preserved and are presented at specialised exhibitions. Today, the remains of the castle are still visible above the village, the outlines of the fortification and the residential parts can be discerned.
