Hanušovce nad Topľou Archaeological Park

A unique place Archaeopark in the town Hanušovce nad Topľou It features five dwellings from five periods of prehistory and the early Middle Ages and is a unique interactive museum.

It takes visitors on a journey back in time spanning 30 millennia. As part of the project, interior furnishings and costumes for both the mannequins and visitors were provided for the five exhibits. Each exhibit is furnished with simple, functional furniture and everyday objects, which are replicas of the original finds. Visitors are free to handle and use all of them.

The Palaeolithic structure contains replicas of flaked stone tools; the Neolithic hut contains pottery; the Late Bronze Age structure contains bronze objects; and the La Tène and Slavic huts contain iron artefacts. All the structures also contain wooden, wicker or leather objects and simple musical instruments.

In each of the huts, visitors will find its permanent „residents" – mannequins dressed in replicas of period clothing. Visitors can hire simpler versions of period costumes from the museum, allowing them to immerse themselves more fully in the realities of prehistoric times.

The Archaeological Park is situated within a historic nature and landscape park with suitable tree cover. It is surrounded by a palisade, which is not in itself a reconstruction of any specific fortification, but which encloses this area and separates it from the outside world.
