Mindžová Hill, Lipovce, Slovakia

Mount Minhaj

Hilltop Minaj It is one of the most interesting vantage points in the Bachureň Mountains. It is situated above the village of Lipovce, approximately 9 kilometres west of Sabinova, and rises to an altitude of approximately 920 m. Its summit is a vast mountain meadow, from which, in good weather, there is a wide, panoramic view of the surrounding mountain ranges and the countryside of eastern Slovakia.

The observation tower at the summit

Right at the summit of Mindžová stands a structure approximately 13.5 metres high metal observation tower. Once visitors have climbed up to the upper platform, an even wider view opens up before them. You can see Chergov, the Levoča Hills, Slanské vrchy, Čierna Hora, the Volovské Hills, Branisko and, on a clear day, even more distant mountain ranges, including the High Tatras.

Chotárna Animal Shelter

Just below the summit, in Sedlo pod Mindžovou, there is the Chotárna mountain hut, which is managed by KST Hermanovce. There is also a spring nearby. The pass is situated close to the boundaries of several neighbouring villages, including Lipovce, Hermanovce, Renčišov and Uzovské Pekľany.

Hiking trails

Mindžová can be reached via signposted hiking trails from several directions. The routes lead from Lipovce, Uzovské Pekľany, Hermanovce and Renčišov. From Lipovce, blue and yellow hiking trails lead up to the hill, and the various options allow you to create a longer circular walk.

The climb up Mindžová is one of the less demanding hikes. The route from Lipovce is approximately 2.9 km long and takes about an hour and a half to complete. During the climb, you’ll pass through a mix of woodland, meadows and footpaths.

Views and natural surroundings

Mindžová is particularly interesting for its open summit meadow and far-reaching views. However, the area surrounding the hill also offers other natural attractions. On the north-western slopes of Mindžová lies a pseudokarst gorge Parkaň, approximately 300 metres long, with walls over ten metres high in places.

Mindžová is therefore an ideal destination for a day trip in Bachurni. It combines easy hill walking, scenic views, a viewing tower and the chance to relax at the Chotárna mountain hut.
