Lookout tower Čierna Hora (Black Hill) – 667 meters above sea level

The lookout tower Čierna hora with a tourist shelter. Čierna hora (667.1 m above sea level) rises above the town of Svidník between the villages of Jurkova Voľa, Rovné and Cernina. Initially, a 9.36 m high pyramid was built on the top which was later replaced by a geodetic survey tower (21.83 m high). In 2006, a new tourist lookout tower in the shape of a quadrangular pyramid, the base of which measures 5 x 5 m, was built there. The tower has three floors: the first floor is located at the height of 5.5 m, the second at 10 m and the third at 14.5 m. The roof of the lookout tower reaches astounding 18 m. In the immediate vicinity of the lookout tower you will find a tourist shelter. The lookout tower with the shelter is a popular hiking spot. On your way to the tower you will pass Ostrý vrch with a grave of an unknown Russian soldier who died in the First World War. Every year, a funeral mass is held at the grave for all those who fell in both World Wars.
