The village of Šalgov belonged from 1315 to the landowner Pavel and his descendants from the Tekule family, who settled here and used the original name Šalgov in the predicate. In the 16th century Uzovci (Uszovci), also a branch of the Tekul family, became the owners of the village of Šalgov. This change of ownership was reflected from the 17th century onwards in the new official name of the village, which reflected the fact that Šalgov belonged to the landowners of Uzov, e.g. also in the 1773 form "Usowsky Salgow" or "Usz-Salgó".
The Uzovci were the owners of the village until the 19th century, when the new owners became first the Semsey family and then the The Péchys. The dominant feature of the village, beside the church, around the middle of the 19th century, is the late-classical manor house of the Péchy family. Its construction used older foundations, probably of the original manor house. It was built on the hill above the church in the years 1840-1850. The land on which the manor house stands is called Panská lúka. The Péchys planted a park in its surroundings, the most famous specimen of which is the protected Mammoth Sequoia. A granary may have been built at some time during this period, but it may be older than the manor house.
The late classical mansion has a raised ground floor and two shallow side bays on the main façade, which have a corner rustication and in its centre two windows under a common over-window cornice. The building was occupied by the Péchys until 1945. After the end of World War II, the Péchy property was illegally confiscated by the state. Since then the manor house has been used for various purposes, for example, the District Children's Home (1951-1961) was located here, where orphans, half-orphans and illegitimate children from the entire Prešov region were placed.
A park was planted around the manor house, after which some trees still remain, e.g. pine, beech (Fagus sylvatica 'Atropunicea'), several lime trees, but the most famous specimen of the park is the protected Mammoth Sequoia. The unique tree is a rare conifer, which has been declared a protected tree since 1989 due to its unique occurrence.
