Memorial to the Fallen in the First World War - Giraltovce

On the stone pedestal is a sculpture of a reclining lion, created by the academic sculptor Felix Faragó. The monument was unveiled on 25 August 1918 before the establishment of the first Czechoslovak Republic. At that time, the lion had its head turned to the east, but after the establishment of the First Czechoslovak Republic, its position was changed by 180 degrees symbolically with its head this time to the west. Near the statue there is a marble plaque and on it an inscription in the Hungarian language, the translation of which into Slovak is as follows: "To the heroic sons who shed their blood in the World War with a feeling of gratitude for the expulsion of the enemy troops.
