A tour of the Solivar Museum is a unique experience because it includes a guided visit to up to four objects: the Salt Storehouse, the Gápel, the Ceterne and the Varna František. They are intended for individuals and groups, as evidenced by the annual increase in interest from schools and families with children.
Given the current situation, Regional Tourism Organisation Región Šariš (hereinafter referred to as OOCR) decided to lend a helping hand and bring the unique Solivar Museum closer to visitors in other ways. This year, it has created for the museum a new and separate website www.muzeumsolivar.sk, where the visitor can find all important information about the museum, online booking form, but also many other interesting facts and last but not least virtual tours. You can take a look, take a virtual walk and have a closer look, or from a different point of view, at all five objects of the museum (Salt Storehouse, Gápeľ, Četerne, Varňa František, Klopačka) and get at least an approximate idea of the history of mining and salt production in the Šariš region directly from the comfort of your home.
OOCR Región Šariš in cooperation with the Solivar Museum publishes every year and unique commemorative coins - Sołnobanské thalers, which are popular not only with numismatists, but also with those who like to take away something valuable from their visits. The toliar was once a large silver coin minted in several variations in different countries (including Hungary). The first toliar was minted at the end of the 15th century in Tyrol. The Solnobanski toliar is a commemorative coin inspired by the old toliars and grajciar from the late 18th and early 19th centuries, which were used in our territory during the reign of Emperor Franz II. Habsburg. The toliars in 2020 were issued in two limited editions with a depiction of Varna Francis. of pure silver (1 ounce) and Solnobanski toliar zinc-aluminium alloy (ZAMAC). You can buy them at the ticket office in the Solivar Museum, at the Municipal Information Centre in Prešov (Hlavná 67), or by mail by appointment at the following email address: info@muzeumsolivar.sk.
The Solivar Museum is looking forward to online visitors, but of course most of all to those who come in person. OOCR Region Šariš came up with the idea of new promotional material for the Solivar Museum and at the end of 2020 prepared another attraction - the first and only cartoon map of the Solivar salt works, which will bring closer the real process of salt mining and the appearance of many now extinct objects in the Salt Mine.
Thanks to the Regional Tourism Organisation Región Šariš and the Ministry of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic all these innovations could be implemented this year, through which the Solivar Museum will be able to further promote and highlight the uniqueness of this technical monument, so that the experience of the visit will be perfect for tourists in the Šariš region.
