Experience castles in a different way – Kamenica Castle: views, traditions and local flavours.
A pilot event entitled Experience castles in a different way as part of the product range Šariš Castle Route It offers participants an immersive experience of the castles through stories, legends, traditions, local flavours and the people who breathe life into these places and help to develop them.
The event is suitable for the general public, and children may also attend if accompanied by an adult.
We’ll be meeting anyone who wants to explore castles in a DIFFERENT way on Sunday 28 June 2026 at 9.00 am at the Centre for Traditional Culture and Museum in Kamenica near Sabinov (house number 204).
The number of participants is limited, so advance registration is required.

Registration of participants and a welcome at the Kamenica Centre for Traditional Culture and Museum
10:00 – 11:25
A visit to the Centre for Traditional Culture and Museum in Kamenica, a demonstration of bread-baking and a presentation of local traditions
11:25 – 12:00
A guided group walk up to Kamenica Castle, with a talk on the castle’s history, stories and legends. On the way to the castle along the nature trail, we’ll learn about the local flora and fauna.
12:00 – 13:00
A guided tour of Kamenica Castle, with views of the surrounding countryside and the ‘Sleeping Monk’/‘Stone Woman’ rock formation
13:00 – 14:00
Transfer to a local farm, a tour of the farm and a tasting of sheep’s milk products

Practical information for participants:
The route follows a walking trail from the village of Kamenica to Kamenica Castle. It is an easy to moderately challenging hike, so we recommend sturdy footwear and suitable clothing. We also advise participants to stay hydrated.
