Favorite Bicycle Railroad between Prešov and Sigordom has a new stop for relaxation, meeting and learning about history. In Kokošovce, a new thematic rest area has been added Train, which refers to the former forest railway running through the valley of the Delne and Sigord.
New recreational element prepared by Regional Tourism Organisation Prešov Region in cooperation with the municipality of Kokošovce. It will be inaugurated during a joint bike ride from Prešov to Kokošovce and then to Sigord on Saturday 23 May 2026.

Common bike ride from Prešov to Sigord
The event entitled Cycling behind the train will bring together fans of cycling, active recreation and regional history. The route will lead along the well-known section of the former railway line, which today is one of the most popular cycling routes in the surroundings of Prešov.
The cyclists' meeting is scheduled for 9.30 a.m. on Rusínská Street near Bike Centrum Prešov. From there the participants will move towards Kokošovce, where the 11.00 a.m. the new Vláčik rest area was inaugurated.
After the opening, the bike ride will continue to the Sigord Reservoir. There will also be a prize draw and the first 50 registered participants will receive a gift package. The more fit cyclists will be able to continue from Sigord with the Kostitras bicycle group from Prešov to Slovak opal mines.

Resting place with a train motif
The new resting place consists of a wooden train, which is a natural reminder of the railway past of this locality. A forest railway used to run through the valley of Delna and Sigord, which was mainly used for transporting timber from the Slanské hory mountains. Later, part of its route also functioned as a recreational pioneer railway.
Today this history is commemorated by Bicycle Railroad, which has become a popular place for recreational cyclists, families with children and day trippers. The new rest area is intended to be a place where visitors can relax, park their bikes and learn more about the area.
The resting place also includes a bicycle rack and an information board with a map of nearby attractions, tourist destinations and cycling routes.
„We wanted to create a place where cyclists can relax, meet each other and learn more about the area they are passing through. The motif of the train naturally refers to the forest railway, which was once an important part of life in this area,“ said Martin Janoško, director of KOCR Prešov Region.

A new reason to go cycling
The Vláčik resting place is another element that makes the Cycle Railway more attractive for locals and visitors to the region. It combines a practical respite for cyclists, a playful visual motif and a reminder of the historic railway that once shaped life in the area.
Cycling behind the train will not only be a sporting event, but also an opportunity to discover a familiar place in a new way. Prešov, Kokošovce, Sigord and the Slanské vrchy Mountains show once again that the region offers many opportunities for active recreation, family trips and exploring history.
