Death Valley
The valley is located three kilometres from the town of Svidník, between the villages of Kapišová, Kružľová and Nižná Písaná. In this area you will find deployed tank equipment depicting a tank company in attack and reminds you of the tank battles that took place here during the Carpatho-Dukla Operation on 25-27 October 1944. They were among the heaviest and in the valley of the Kapišovka River as many as 11,000 soldiers were killed on both sides, 5,000 of whom were of the then Red Army.Original military equipment
The soldiers began to call this valley the Valley of Death. Between Nizhna Pisana and Kapishova, the destroyed T-34 tanks of the Soviet 12th Tank Brigade were left in places where they were hit by enemy anti-tank guns to become monuments and mementos of the heavy fighting for future generations. For an overview of military historical attractions, see the subpage Other important monuments. In the region within this theme we recommend to visit Jewish cemetery in Bardejov, the place where they are located dragon's teeth, Holocaust Memorial. Source: www.vhu.sk Photo: vhu.skMap
