On the outside of the Florian Gate (to the Mill Ditch) a newer Art Nouveau building adjoins the building. It served as an entrance to the municipal skating rink, which today is reminiscent of a nice Art Nouveau relief of skaters with a curve from the 20th century. Opposite Florian's Gate, on the other side of the now filled-in Mlynský ditch (whose place was taken by Okružná Street), there was an ice-skating rink in the 19th century. Floegel's garden with huge trees, serving as a place of rest for the townspeople. The last witness of these times is today only an ancient plane tree, belonging for more than a century to the important sights of Prešov.
The mighty crown of the tree with the botanical name Platanus acerifolia, spread over Florian's Gate, closes the main axial view from the city centre towards the west. The dimensions of the tree are extraordinary - over 750 cm at a height of 130 cm above the ground and more than 950 cm at the stump. However, the impressive green mass does not document its great age. Planted in the late second third of the 19th century, it is not yet 150 years old, but it is the result of favourable habitat conditions, hitherto protected by the dedicated space of the villa garden. The alluvial soil from the alluvial deposits of the Torysa with high water table and the naturally rapid biological growth are the basis for its extraordinary growth at a relatively young age. Its trunk is branched low above the ground into several strong trunks that continuously stubble up to the crown. The stiffness of the trunk is relieved by large lobed leaves and rounded fruit, hanging picturesquely from the terminal branches. The flaking of the bark in large solid sheets has left light and dark green-grey patches on the branched trunk and branches, making this exceptionally vigorous specimen a unique and unrepeatable tree.
