Manor house Petrovany

The Baroque-Classical manor house with a park is situated on a gentle slope of the western exposure in the central position of the village of Petrovany.
Descendants of the nobleman Sinka, who in the 15th century adopted the surname "Szentpétery" had their curial place in Petrovany with two Courts - lower at the church and from by the road towards Prešov, where there was also a mill. In 1756 Maria Theresa granted the Klobušick family the title of count and in the same year František Klobušický's grandson Žigmund had a new Baroque manor house built on the site of the Szentpétery Renaissance manor house. The manor served as a hunting lodge for the count families.
The mansion area consists of an economic area, an entrance area (courtyard) and a natural-landscape layout. The entrance part (courtyard) is designed with an oval green area with a traffic circle. The oval grassy area with symmetrically planted coniferous trees has a transverse compositional axis oriented towards the main entrance to the mansion. To the north-west of the main building of the manor house is the ice-house building with its legible Baroque morphology. In the north-western part of the park, a new building of the Convent of the Dominican Sisters with an orchard exterior is realized.

Natural-landscape park was built next to the Baroque-Classical manor house from 1756 on the area of an older country garden at the end of the 19th century. At the time of its creation, it was a larger layout, which was reduced by the change in the functional use of the buildings, when the area was closed off and the peripheral parts were subdivided. Originally, the old building was enclosed by a protective rampart - a moat, which Count Klobušický had filled in, leaving only a small pond. Other farm and service buildings and a gatehouse were added. The park forms a single complex with the grounds of the manor house, where the interconnection of architectural and horticultural work creates an integral whole.

In the 20th century, the manor house was used by the owners for storage of goods, as a state orphanage or as an institution for mentally and physically handicapped children.
