Giraltovce manor house

Giraltovce was probably founded at the beginning of the 15th century. Quite a lot of inhabitants of the village were involved in the anti-Habsburg Estates uprising and were the subjects of František Rákoczi. He promised them various benefits, so many were lured into his army. After the defeat of František Rákoczi's rebellion in 1708 near Trenčín, the village was partially depopulated.

In the 18th century, the Krasnec, Podhorányi and Szirmayi families managed their estates here. In this period, a faience manufactory and a brickyard for the production of bricks were established in the village.

The late Baroque manor house is from the 18th century. It was built by the Šemšei family. The one-storey block building with an asymmetrical axial arrangement on the main façade has arches over the entrance and some windows. The manor house has a mansard roof. Its furnishings with the surrounding park have been used for many years for health care purposes. The rooms have vaults with lunettes, Prussian and mirror vaults.
