Handball hall (Tatran Handball arena)

Older name „Town Hall“. The official beginning of organized handball in Prešov is mentioned from 1952 under the name Slávia ČSSZ. From 1953 handball passed to Tatran, when after the final tournament of the Slovak championship in Bratislava they took 3rd place in Slovakia and a year later in 1954 Tatran qualified for the Czechoslovak championship, where they won the first historical bronze medals for Prešov. In the 1971/72 season Tatran won their biggest international success, where they finished in the semi-finals of the European Champions Cup. The golden era of the late sixties and early seventies was topped off at the Summer Olympics in Munich by Vincent Lafko and Andrej Lukošík - members of the Czechoslovak silver medal winning team. Nowadays, the Prešov club is a regular participant of the highest Slovak league - extraliga, and since 2011 also of the international interleague - SEHA league.
