On 7 May 2026, a workshop was held in the historical premises of the Small Manor House in Hanušovce nad Topľou. At the workshop dedicated to the development of subdestinations Slanské vrchy representatives of local governments, business entities, academia and Regional Tourism Organisations met.
The aim of the meeting was to evaluate the activities so far, to present the cooperation project for 2026 and to set the next steps towards the systematic development of the territory Slanské hills as an attractive and sustainable tourist destination.
Successful activities of last year
Among the most important activities in 2025 were the creation of a website and the elaboration of a strategy for the development of the subdistinction Slanské vrchy. The discussion also provided an opportunity to present other planned activities. These will focus on promoting tourism, building regional identity and developing sustainable products.
Creation of new tourism products
During last year's expert meetings, a number of high quality proposals for new tourism products emerged. In the second half of the workshop, the partners focused on their concretization and translation into real projects, which have the ambition to be launched on the market this year.
The workshop was held in the spirit of professional cooperation, exchange of experience and a common vision for the development of the region. The partners agreed that connecting municipalities, professional institutions, entrepreneurs and tourism organisations is the key to creating quality and competitive tourism products that can appeal to both domestic and foreign visitors.
The bearer of the idea of developing subdestination Slanské vrchy is a partnership of Regional Tourism Organisations Šariš region, Upper Zemplín a VISIT Košice.
