You can find discounts, day trips and events all in one app. There are special benefits for families with children.
The Prešov Region Regional Tourism Organisation, in collaboration with the Prešov Self-Governing Region, is introducing a new feature for the 2026 summer season – a digital destination card Prešov Region Travel Card. The tab in the mobile app offers discounts, benefits and tips on trips and events. Visitors thus gain access to a comprehensive digital guide to the Prešov Region right on their mobile phones.
The Prešov Region Travel Card is freely available to download as a mobile app. Users will find dozens of connected devices and partners who offer discounted admission, special offers or discounts on services. They can enjoy these benefits at accommodation providers, restaurants, museums, galleries, wellness centres and many other attractions and services in the region. In particular, attention paid to on offer benefits for families with children, which make planning summer trips easier and family holidays more affordable.
Key features of the app include hundreds of ideas for days out divided into thematic categories. Visitors will find recommendations on the map for natural attractions, trails, observation towers, caves, cultural and historical monuments, religious sites, family attractions and adrenaline-fuelled experiences. The app is also regularly updated a calendar of events from across the Prešov Region.
The app also displays the content based on the user’s current location. Once location services are enabled, it automatically suggests the nearest discounts, partner establishments, tips for day trips, events and points of interest in the vicinity. Visitors can therefore explore the region easily and conveniently, right from wherever they are. The app is also available in several languages, making it useful not only for local visitors but also for tourists from abroad.
Milan Majerský, Chairman of the Prešov Self-Governing Region, emphasised that modern digital tools and cooperation between stakeholders in the tourism sector are an important part of tourism development: „Tourism is one of the key pillars of regional development. The new destination card is a further step towards modernising services for visitors, whilst also supporting businesses, cultural institutions and tourist attractions in our region. It also offers benefits specifically tailored to families with children, so that during the holidays they can take advantage of discounts and find inspiration for trips around our region. I believe that the Prešov Region Travel Card will help visitors discover more places, stay with us for longer and take home even more memorable experiences from the Prešov Region.“
„The main the purpose of the destination card is to support to boost visitor numbers to the region, encourage tourists to use local services and, at the same time, forge stronger links between the various tourism stakeholders. Visitors can find not only information on what to see and do in one place, but also specific benefits that encourage them to explore more locations and services across the entire region. Anyone can take part; the card is also designed for smaller and lesser-known services and attractions.,“ said Michal Iľkanin, chairman of KOCR Prešov Region.
The concept of destination and tourist cards is not new worldwide. Similar schemes are operating successfully in many European regions and cities, where they help visitors to explore local attractions more easily, take advantage of partner offers and plan their stay. However, the Prešov Region Travel Card project is unique in Slovakia in that it covers the entire self-governing region.
The activity is being carried out with financial support from the Ministry of Tourism and Sport of the Slovak Republic. The aim of the project is to support the development of tourism, enhance the region’s appeal and provide visitors with modern tools for exploring its natural, cultural and historical treasures.
