The Giant Swing in Buče It is a new tourist attraction in the Bachureň Mountains, combining a rest during a hike with views of the surrounding mountain ranges. It is situated in the Buče saddle, not far from the cross above the Renčišov–Buče area, approximately 700 metres from the summit Buče, at an altitude of 1,005 metres.
The swing stands in an open mountainous landscape characterised by meadows, offering sweeping views of the surrounding countryside. It also serves as a prominent landmark and photo spot on the hiking trails through Bachureň.
A giant wooden swing
The wooden swing is approximately five metres and up to five people can use it at the same time. The main seat is fitted with a backrest, and there are two smaller seats on either side of it.
Its location respects the natural character of the area and provides a place to take a short break whilst out walking or cycling. Thanks to its size, the swing is visible from a considerable distance and naturally complements the tourist infrastructure in this part of the mountain range.
Views from Buče
One of the town’s biggest attractions is views of the surrounding mountain ranges. From the open, grassy slopes, one can see, for example, Branisko, the eastern part of the Low Tatras, the Belianske Tatras, Chergov or Slanské vrchy.
The most beautiful views can be seen directly from the ridge sections, so it’s worth combining a visit to the swing with a walk along the hiking trail, rather than just stopping at the photo spot itself.
How to get to the Buče swing
There are several walking routes leading to the swing. One option is the route from Lipovce following the yellow tourist trail, which is just under three kilometres long and involves a climb of approximately 360 metres. The ascent takes about an hour and a half.
Other options include routes from Lačnova, Renčišova or Hermanoviec. Cyclists can, for example, take the green cycle route from Lačnov or the longer route following the red markings via the Magura Pass.
One of the advantages of this location is that you can plan a trip from various directions and combine a visit to the swing with other places in the Bachureň Mountains.
A swing as part of a walking route
The giant Buče swing is not a destination in its own right, but above all a stop on a walking route. From there, you can continue, for example, towards Mindžová and the Mindžová Lookout Tower, which stands 13.5 metres tall and is situated near the Chotárna mountain hut.
Another option is to continue over the Magura Pass or towards Lačnov. The walk can then be extended to include Lačnovský Canyon, The Lačnov Gravity Anomaly, the Srdiečko viewpoint or the Zlá diera cave.
The giant Buče swing is therefore a handy stop-off point on your journey of discovery the Bachureň mountain range and the natural attractions of the Šariš region. Thanks to the combination of views, walking routes and nearby natural sites, it can form part of either a short day trip or a longer, full-day hike.
