The town of Sabinov and the Municipal Cultural Centre in Sabinov invite you to the Days of Sabinov 2022 and the 48th edition of the Sabinov Fair, which starts this weekend. This year's edition is all the more rare as it opens after a long hiatus. From 11 to 18 June, a rich programme is prepared for visitors. Cultural events as well as sports activities will be part of the celebrations of the city days.
Sabinov Town Days opens 11 June 2022 theatrical performance called Davey would so like „Fly Me to the Moon“ performed by Kontra Theatre from Spišská Nová Ves. In the cinema hall of MsKS in Sabinov at 18:00 they will introduce you to the action of a black comedy about two nannies who can resist everything except temptation. And about small decisions that have big consequences.
On Sunday 12 June 2022 you will be able to witness a benefit concert called „Music unites us“ and support such a good cause. The concert is organized in cooperation with the Primary Art School in Sabinov. In the Parish Church of the Martyrdom of St. John the Baptist, the guests will be Anna Hitrikova on vocals, Liubov Gunder will accompany on piano and Filip Burgr and Dávid Dráb will play the organ. Admission is voluntary and proceeds from the concert will be donated to the non-profit organization Man in Peril.

She will talk about the novel „Women without pedigrees“, which is a generational testimony about the times in which we live alien ideas or do not live at all. „One of the main themes of the City Days will be the personality of Janko Borodáč. The founder of professional theatre in Slovakia, he worked in Sabinov in 1922-1924 as a teacher and founded the amateur theatre ensemble Palárik. The opening ceremony of the exhibition will take place on 13 June at 11:00 a.m. in the Concert Hall of the KC Na korze. The exhibition will run until 30 June 2022.“ said Jozef Váhovský, director of the Municipal Cultural Centre in Sabinov.
Evaluation of the 6th year of the art competition, which has an international character called „Csontváry's wandering shoes“ is on the programme as part of a moderated artistic evening „Future (?) personalities of Sabinov“. The programme will feature performances by current and former laureates and prize winners of the Sabinovský Author and Reciter May and small reciters of the Sabinovský Čim -Čim.
There will also be no lack of sports competition and its place has once again found its place Pentapolitan. The 20th year of the competition of high school students in non-traditional sports disciplines, sports day for pupils of the second stage of primary schools operating in the city in the disciplines of futsal, basketball, or running relay. A long-standing part of the City Days is also an international tournament of internationals or a fair doubles tennis tournament.
On Tuesday 14 June the book will be launched and presented in the Cultural and Information Centre Na korze „Oscar musicians“ PhDr. Viliam Tarjányi PhD. The publication is a tribute to musicians who have spread the good name of the city of Prešov in the field of artistic activity. It captures hitherto unpublished data on their activities in the film industry. The inspiration and impetus for writing the publication was the book Shop on the Corridor (essays on film topics) by Juraj Vrabel Jr. The guests will be Mgr. Anna Bakajsová and Jozef Blažovský.
K Janek Borodac will also return again 15 June, where his name in the development of Slovak drama will be presented by the theatrologist doc. Mgr. art. Karol Mišovic secondary school students. The lecture will be on the occasion of 130. anniversary of the birth of Janko Borodáč. In the evening, there will be space for invited guests to attend a gala evening associated with the awarding of the Sabinov Town Prize and the Sabinov Mayor's Prize. Sabinov Town Days have a number of accompanying events in their repertoire. One of them is the open day of the KC Na korze and KIC Na Korze and the exposition of the Regional Museum Prešov. In addition, Sabinov's Marek Hockicko lent a model of the Roman Catholic Church of the Beheading of St. John the Baptist, which he created with his own hands and spent 1800 hours on its construction. His inspiration came from the models of the buildings of the square made of spires that he had seen as a child in the Sabinov library. During the morning in the library of MsKS, Sabinovská native Viktória Moser (Semaníková) will present his book Mindmages - Fog Island and in the evening during the baptism he will introduce her to the life of books. It will be the first book of her work, in which she describes a world ruled by a strong mind and the ability to know how to work with one's own thoughts and innate predispositions. On the last day of the week-long programme, the youngest visitors can look forward to 1st Children's Fair. Throughout the day they will be accompanied by activities, demonstrations by the falconry group Sabina, performances by children's groups, a song show and a puppet troupe.
On Saturday 18 June concludes with great fun Sabinov is having fun performances by bands such as Karel Gott revival SK, Katka Knechtová and HEX.
„48. The Sabin fair, however, also brings several novelties. The main stage at the ÚPSVaR in Sabinov will be fenced during the main evening performances, with a symbolic entrance fee of 1€. As we want to focus on security, this new space will be protected by a private security service. We will build a second small stage in the upper part of the town near the statue of "Oscar".
