Sabinovsky district from a bird's eye view

Sabinovsky district offers several tourist spots and opportunities for outdoor activities. But what if we want to put things in perspective ? Then we recommend going to the lookout towers in the area. We've put together some tips for short trips to 3 lookout towers in Sabinov district.

Lookout tower on Šanci/Švabľovka - Sabinov

Above the city Sabinov is switched off hill Chance, which is interconnected by paths - also known as Švablovské sidewalks. All of them lead to a flat top, where there is an 11-metre high lookout tower.

The easiest way to it leads directly from the town of Sabinov. You can park at the municipal swimming pool, go to the other side of the road and there begins a forest path that will take you directly to the lookout tower. There is an information board at the beginning of the road.

Lookout tower in Pečovská Nová Ves

In the village Pečovská Nová Ves near the Jewish cemetery there is a new - recently opened lookout tower. It is 16 metres high and offers views of the Čergov Mountains, Bachureň, Slanské vrchy and even the High Tatras. From the lookout tower you can also see the landmarks of our nearby surroundings, such as the castle hill of Šariš Castle

There are two access routes to the building. Visitors can use the asphalt road from Na Trubalovec Street, which is accessible on foot and by car. The second option leads along the restored footpath from the residential area on the same street, in the direction of Mniše Hill. Both routes are easy and suitable for recreational walks.

Balážka lookout tower - Lipany

Observation tower Balazka is named after the hill on which it rises. It has a height of 14 metres, three storeys and is firmly set in a concrete foundation, making it look stable and sturdy. From its observation platform, you can enjoy impressive panoramas of the Čergov Mountains, the Levoča Hills, the silhouette of Kamenice Castle and the whole town of Lipany.

Access to the lookout tower is along the green tourist sign from the railway station in Lipany. Later, after the railway crossing, follow the local tourist sign (red-white square). It is an easy walk of about 1 hour, which can be easily managed by families with children and beginners.
