Regional Museum in Prešov will again this year take part in the pan-European event Night of museums and galleries. On Saturday 16 May 2026 will prepare a rich programme in three places - in Prešov, v Manor house Stropkov and in Archaeopark in Hanušovce nad Topľou.
The event will run from 15:00 to 20:00 and visitors can look forward to exhibitions, guided tours, expert lectures, creative workshops and experiential activities for children and families. Admission to all events is free.
Programme in Prešov: exhibitions, art and restored portraits of the Habsburgs
The main programme will take place at Main 139 in the building of the old town school. It will start about 15:00 opening ceremony, which will be enriched by music and dance performances of pupils SZUŠ M. Kobelák.
Visitors will be able to see the exhibition Dialogue of generations: sculpture and painting in the Gibal family and the exhibition Important personalities of Prešov's musical and cultural life. Her guided tours will lead Igor Lazoriko 16:00 a 18:00.
The attraction of the evening will be the display of newly restored portraits of the Habsburgs. Historian Nikoleta Latta and restorer Ivana Ramáčová will introduce them during lectures on 17:00 a 19:00.
Stropkov Manor: exhibition Slovak League and underground tours
In Stropkov the main point will be the exhibition Slovak League, dedicated to the history of Slovak emigration and the activities of the 92nd Branch of the Slovak League in Stropkov. The guided tour will take place at 15:30.
The programme will be complemented by performances of pupils ZUŠ F. Veselý a SZUŠ in Stropkov. O 16:30 the art competition will be evaluated Stropkov Castle in children's imagination.
Other expositions of the manor and the castle will also be open. Guided tours with entrance to the underground will take place at 17:30 a 19:00.
Archaeopark Hanušovce: crafts and treasure hunting
The Archaeopark in Hanušovce nad Topľou will offer demonstrations of traditional crafts and creative activities for children and adults.
Visitors can try weaving, making rings from wire, painting beads, working with clay, grinding grain, minting coins or archery. The evening culminates with treasure hunt.
Museum a little differently
The Night of Museums and Galleries will offer visitors the opportunity to experience a museum in an unconventional way - through history, art, creativity and experiences for all ages.
