Regional Tourism Organisation (hereinafter referred to as "OOCR") Region Šariš has published the second edition of the booklet Welcome to Šariš. The practical guide reveals the most beautiful places in the Šariš region.
In 2018, OOCR Región Šariš published a printed guide to the region for the first time ever. It was published in Slovak and English. The guide to the region was published in cooperation with OOCR Šariš - Bardejov. The official guide "Welcome to Šariš" is a continuation of the successful Šariš region guidebook, which has been updated and supplemented with new locations.
Tourist guide to the region offers the tourist approximately 100 tips, in which it fully informs about the history of the towns, natural attractions, cultural amenities and necessary services.
95 full colour pages guides the visitor through the mapped places in the region. For example, you will find information about the historical centre of Šariš, which was once the Šariš Castle. It also includes information about the most visited towns in the region, such as Bardejov, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the third largest town in Slovakia, the region's metropolis - Prešov.

In the booklet you can find information not only about the towns of Prešov and Bardejov but also about the Bardejov Spa, Sabinov, Veľký Šariš, Lipany, Svidník, Drienica, Nižný Slávkov or Ruská Nová Ves. In the region there is a large number of royal and noble residences of both defensive and representative character. It guides the visitor through 17 castles, mostly ruins, such as Šariš Castle, Kapušian Castle, Zbojnícky Castle, Plaveč Castle and others.
However, traces of history appear everywhere. It informs about the world-famous Slovak opal mines in the Slanské vrchy Mountains or about a set of unique historical objects for pumping salt from brine in the Solivar in Prešov. There is also information about the villages with wooden churches, which are characteristic sights of Šariš, such as Brežany, Ladomirová, Tročany, Hervartov and others.

Tourists can be inspired by the enchanting nature of the Eastern Carpathians, the mysterious Čergov, Busovo and the Levoča and Slanské Hills, which are accompanied by numerous hiking and cycling trails. It is worth exploring the impressive Lačnovský canyon or the underground beauty of the Zlá hole cave. As the chairlift in the heart of Čergov serves visitors to Ski Lysá all year round, it is also used by many cyclists in summer. Among the popular relaxation places surrounded by beautiful fir-beech forests are the Bardejov Spa, which was visited by the Austrian Empress Elisabeth in her time.

Although the Šariš region is not a typical "water" destination, there are many ways to enjoy your free time by the water. The only aqua park with thermal water in the region is the recently opened aqua park in Lipany. Water activities are offered by the towns of Prešov, Sabinov and Svidník.
The booklet also contains useful information and contacts, accommodation and dining options. As the inhabitants of Šariš speak an eloquent Šariš dialect, which other Slovaks will recognise at first hearing, it also contains a short Šariš-Slovak dictionary.
"The Šariš region offers many picturesque natural corners, technical monuments and folk culture of world importance, which are certainly worth seeing. Visitors can be inspired by our tourist guidebook, which is available at the Prešov city information centre and the information centre at Šariš Castle in Veľký Šariš. We will gradually add them to other information centres and various cultural institutions," said Branislav Švorc, director of OOCR Región Šariš.
