Tourism in Chergov a Slanské hills
If nature attracts you, the Šariš region offers ideal conditions for hiking. The Čergov Mountains are famous for their deep forests, quiet ridges and beautiful views. A hike up Minčol or walks around Drienica and Lysá Peak will give you the perfect escape from the everyday hustle and bustle.
On the opposite side of the region are the Slanské vrchy - less frequented, but all the more authentic. Mysterious forests, former mining sites and a climb to the highest peak of the Slanské vrchy - Šimonka - await you here.
Wander into the nature of Šariš and you won't regret it. You'll recharge your energy and you'll definitely get to know new, interesting and especially beautiful places.
Castles Šariš Castle Road come to life
The beginning of the summer season traditionally belongs to the opening of castles and their entire grounds. Within the project Šariš Castle Road we recommend visiting historical landmarks such as Šariš Castle, Kapušany Castle or Zborov Castle and many others. They all come alive with events, fencing performances and themed parades. It's the perfect tip for a family outing with a dose of history. Plus, the cool walls will keep you pleasantly cool and provide views of the wide surrounding area.
Šariš region on wheels
Šariš is becoming more and more popular among cyclists. Many villages are connected cross-cross-cross by cycling routes, which allows exploring the region and playing sports at the same time. The most popular routes in our region include:
- Bicycle Railroad - a unique route along the former railway line towards the Sigord reservoir
- EuroVelo 11 - one of the world's longest cycling routes, which passes through the entire Šariš region
- Šariš circuit - runs through the Šariš Highlands and is intended for mountain and cross bikes
Whether you're a recreational cyclist, skater or passionate athlete, you'll find a route just for you.
Historic city centres full of life
The summer season is also about the atmosphere of the cities. Visit the historical centres of cities such as Prešov, Bardejov (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), Sabinov or Lipany. Each of them offers unique charm, architecture and a rich programme.
