Bardejov Spa are located 5 km north of the town of Bardejov in the picturesque valley of the Low Beskydy Mountains in an area rich in mineral waters. The spa, or mineral springs, were first mentioned in the Belu IV. of the year 1247, which defines the area of Bardejov. There is relatively early information about the existence of the springs due to the fact that the mineral springs were located in the immediate vicinity of an important settlement, which Bardejov certainly was, and near the important „great royal road“ connecting the Mediterranean with the Baltic. Over the years, spa facilities were built, which were mainly visited by the nobility.
Bardejov Spa and precious guests
Earlier 19th century the spa became one of the most sought-after in Hungary, as evidenced by the records of visitors such as the Emperor Joseph II., Maria Lujza - later wife of the emperor Napoleon, Russian Tsar and Empress Elizabeth of Bavaria, wife Franz Joseph I., whose presence is commemorated by a statue in front of the spa house, dating from 1903. Visitor numbers to the spa increased following the construction of the railway line to Bardejov, which provided a regular carriage service to the spa.
Location and mineral subsoil
The Magura Mountains shield the entire spa valley from sudden changes in the weather and wind, giving the spa a very favourable climate. The clean air, tranquillity and beautiful surrounding countryside offer spa guests peace and healing. Six mineral water springs rise in the central park area of the spa. The water from the „Hlavný“, „Lekársky“ and „Herkules“ springs is bicarbonate-chloride, sodium, ferrous, carbonated, hypotonic and cold. The water from the „Alžbeta“ spring is bicarbonate-chloride, sodium-calcium, ferrous, carbonated, hypotonic and cold. In terms of their balneological value, they rank among the most significant mineral waters of this type.
As well as spa centres and hotels, the complex also features two swimming pools and two exhibitions The Šariš Museum in Bardejov - ethnographic and skanzen - a museum of folk architecture, an amphitheatre, tennis courts, mini-golf, a fitness centre, a bowling bar, an oxygen trail, 35 km of well-maintained hiking trails, a natural heated swimming pool, and a salt cave.

Bardejovské Kúpele is situated approximately 5 km from the centre of Bardejov; you can drive directly to the spa complex, where there are several car parks available. Public transport routes 1, 2 and 5 also run from the town to the spa, stopping at the Bardejovské Kúpele stop.
Visitors can explore the spa colonnade and mineral springs, visit the open-air museum, the park and the Empress Sisi Museum, or enjoy the spa facilities, treatments and walks in the forest park.
