Festival of Countries and Traditions is a new international folklore festival which will take place 6–8 August 2026 in the centre of Prešov. Over the three days of the festival’s first edition, there will be performances by folk ensembles from Slovakia, Poland, Lithuania, Bulgaria a Ukraine, traditional crafts, regional cuisine, a dance school and a folklore parade through the town.
The festival will also feature an interactive zone Discover and experience Šariš, which will introduce visitors to traditional crafts, local producers, regional products, folklore traditions and authentic experiences associated with Šariš.
The festival will feature more than 15 Slovak folk groups and 170 international performers from six groups. The programme will also include evening concerts by the bands Iconito and Malalata. The festival has been organised with the aim of promoting intercultural dialogue, showcasing the richness of folk traditions and strengthening Prešov’s position as an attractive cultural and tourist destination. The event will take place under the motto „Different countries, one tradition.“
The organisers of the Festival of Countries and Traditions are Culture and Leisure Park (PKO), City of Prešov a Regional Tourism Organisation Región Šariš, which organise the event and also contribute to its funding.
The festival is also being held thanks to financial support from the Prešov Self-Governing Region, the Ministry of Tourism and Sport of the Slovak Republic, the national organisation Slovakia Travel, and the partners Respect Slovakia, Marti a.s. and CEMM THOME, to whom we owe our thanks for their support in organising the first edition of the international folklore festival in Prešov.
