Ščob - cross on Ščob

Village Poloma with its 605 metres above sea level is one of the highest inhabited villages and towns in the Šariš region.

Above it rises a hill at a height of 956 m above sea level, locally called Pike. In the year 2003 was on the hill of Ščob, in honour of visits to Slovakia by the Holy Father John Paul II., erected 10 meter stainless steel cross.

In addition to the breathtaking view, you will find a shelter with barbecue facilities and benches for relaxation at the very top. Also just below the cross is a rockery where you can view the forest from above.

V September is held regularly on the top of Ščob Holy Mass, which can be an unforgettable experience at such a high altitude.

From the cross you can enjoy the panorama of the Upper Torysa region, from Bajerovce through Brezovica, Lipany, Kamenický hrad, Rožkovany, to Sabinov - a large part of the Šariš region.

From the hill Ščob you can also go to the top of the Black Mountain or to the lookout tower above Krásná Lúkou - Čarna kopa, the journey takes about 1.5 to 2 hours on foot.
