Prešov Christmas markets are an essential part of the Advent and Christmas season in our city. Also in 2025, it will take place on two dates, from 25.11. to 23.12.2025 and from 26.12. to 31.12.2025. The Prešov Christmas Market will feature a great musical programme across genres, as well as delicious food and drinks served in returnable cups.
The Prešov Christmas Market will be inaugurated traditionally on 25 November 2025 and will last until 23 December 2025. After a two-day break, it will then continue from St. Stephen's Day on 26 December until New Year's Eve on 31 December 2025.
„Every year we take the Prešov Christmas Market a step further with our programme, services and atmosphere, which unites the whole city. This year will be an extraordinary event with several novelties that we will reveal on the spot. I invite families, friends and visitors from all over the region - come taste the punch, discover the crafts, enjoy the music and be surprised. Let's meet on Main Street and experience together an Advent full of joy, surprises and togetherness,“ invites Prešov residents and visitors from the whole region to the Mayor of Prešov František Oľha.
Visitors will be able to enjoy their drinks in special returnable cups with a funny print in the Sharis dialect. Visitors will pay a deposit of €2 for a returnable glass when purchasing their first drink. They can then keep the cup as a nice Christmas souvenir or return it to two marked locations where the deposit will be refunded. The cups will only be returnable at specially designated stands.
This year the stage will be located in front of St. Nicholas Cathedral and will host a number of artists. The band will perform Rust, Singer Slávka Tkáčová, Music from Mars, Robo Simko & Massriot, Banda, Muzička and Lomnické Čhave or pop opera trio La Gioia and many others. Children's folklore ensembles will also be present Dúbravienka a Sharishan.
Nearly a dozen or so Christmas markets will be set up in the city centre during the Christmas market. 70 stalls with local artisans and sellers of Christmas goods, drinks and various gastronomic products. The Christmas markets in Prešov will sell for example leather and wooden products, jewellery, clothes, slippers, gloves, gingerbread, gingerbread houses, spices, candles, toys, books, Christmas trees, decorations and much more. Visitors to the markets will be able to enjoy langos, doughnuts, grilled specialties, trifles, meat products, grilled cheese, cotton candy, popcorn and desserts. They can also warm up with fragrant punch, mead, mulled wine and other traditional alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. There will also be one gastro stand in South Park with drinks and snacks. There will be a Christmas corner away from the busy pedestrian area where visitors can relax.
Children and parents can find carousels and children's attractions in the southern part of the pedestrian zone, by the horse statue. „This year we focused on making the so-called children's zone with carousels more attractive. We have added a smaller Ferris wheel and a new gastro zone will be created in the area near the horse statue, which will delight young and old alike. It will also include a wooden hut with a refreshment offer. Our aim is to revitalise this part of the market and increase the number of visitors,“ said the director of PKO Barbora Rusiňáková.
Traditionally, the Christmas markets in Prešov will also have their place charity stalls and the Mayor's Punch. Each year, the profits from the sale of this punch are donated to support those most in need. The Mayor's Punch will be served on December 12 and 19, 2025 at 2 p.m.
On weekdays and Saturdays, merchandise stands will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and refreshment stands will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. On Sundays, all sales stalls will be open from 12:00 and will be available until 19:00. The refreshment stalls will serve visitors until 22:00.
Traditionally, the Cathedral of St. Nicholas will be located at wooden carved nativity scene by the author Juraj Antoňák from Ličartovce.
Visitors to the Prešov Christmas Markets can admire the avenue of Christmas trees, which will be decorated by pupils of Prešov kindergartens and primary schools with handmade decorations made from recycled materials.31 cute Christmas trees will be placed in the South Park and in the vicinity of St. Nicholas Cathedral.
The Christmas tree in front of St. Nicholas Cathedral will be lit by children together with St. Nicholas on 6 December 2025. Children's programme St. Nicholas gift on Main Street will start at 16.00. Zahrajko will perform and from 7.15 p.m. a guest from our Polish neighbours - the musical group Dikanda.
Musician Pavel Callta will kick off the Štefanská fun on 26 December 2025 and DJ José Garcia will provide the best dance entertainment.
We will celebrate the arrival of the New Year in Prešov with great music and entertainment. On New Year's Eve, just before midnight, the Slovak hardcore punk rock band Bijouterrier will perform and after midnight, Daniel Franko - DJ FONBOX will entertain visitors on the square.
