Discover Šebeš Castle in a slightly different way – through stories, history, folklore, stunning views and authentic local flavours.
On Sunday 27 September 2026 We invite you to an interactive event Experience castles in a different way - Šebeš Castle. Together, we’ll set off to explore the history and natural beauty of Šariš, discover local traditions and the mysterious nooks and crannies of the castle hill, and finish by sampling traditional dishes from the region.
A day full of exploration, activity and new experiences awaits you – starting with the castle ruins Šebeš through the nature reserve Oak Hill all the way to the U Cipíska farm.

Meeting point: the official car park below Šebeš Castle, in the village of Podhradík

Route: following the green tourist sign
The route is also suitable for families with older children, aged approximately 6 and over, which can handle a forest climb.
What is waiting for you?
🏰 Shebes Castle – We’ll walk up to the ruins via the Šebeš Castle Nature Trail with a guide. The mayor will welcome you at the castle grounds, and during the guided tour you’ll learn more about the castle’s history and its mysterious tale.
🔥 Barbecue below the castle – There will also be space by the castle bonfire to roast your own food.
🌲 Oak Hill – We’ll set off along a forest trail through the Dubová hora Nature Reserve, where we’ll discover the highlights of the surrounding countryside and woodland.
🪨 The Rocky Eye of Džad – we’ll discover a mysterious and imposing rock formation hidden away in the woods. We’ll also come across a spot offering beautiful panoramic views of the Šariš countryside and the surrounding castles Šariš and Kapušany.
🐐 U Cipíska Farm – We’ll round off the trip with an activity programme at a local farm. We’ll enjoy a short tour of the animal enclosure, a display of traditional Šariš folk costumes with the chance to try them on, and a tasting of home-cooked dishes.
🥘 Flavours of Šariš – to round off the day, we’ll enjoy some traditional home-cooked food and local specialities as part of a delightful dining experience.

Practical information
Don’t forget to sturdy walking boots, suitable layered clothing and plenty of fluids to the woodland section of the route.
