Return to the Middle Ages attracted hundreds of visitors to the Castle Day in Ruská Nová Ves

RUSSIAN NOVA VES, 28 June 2025 - On the last Saturday in June, the meadow under the Zbojnícky castle was transformed into a place full of medieval atmosphere, crafts, music and good mood. The Castle Day in Ruská Nová Ves attracted hundreds of visitors and showed that even a smaller village can offer an experiential event with a rich programme for the whole family.
The event opened at 10:30 a.m. with the popular folk music Senioranka, followed by performances by pupils CZUŠ St. Nicholas from Prešov, bands Zojco & STF Band, even musical duo Het'o. The medieval atmosphere was complemented by falconry group HORUS with their birds of prey and fencing group SHŠ Cohors Prešov, which showed demonstrations of medieval combat.    The children's programme was also well taken care of. The event included a fairy-tale trail with tasks that led up to the Robber's Castle with a lookout. After completing all the stations, the children received small rewards, including souvenirs and gift items from the merchandise of the OOCR Region Šariš.   The bean cookery competition also attracted great interest, with three teams competing. Representatives of the OOCR Region Šariš formed the evaluation jury and the individual beans were honestly tasted, tasted and declared the winner. The tasting was also open to the public.     The Regional Tourism Organisation Región Šariš not only participated in the event as a media partner, but also actively participated in the creation of the programme. From its resources it provided performances of armourers, falconers, interactive period cuisine from the 12th-13th centuries performed by OZ Kulturhrad and creative ceramic workshops for children.   Local artisans - from blacksmiths, carvers, beekeepers to natural soap and beaded jewellery makers - also showed off their art. Throughout the day, there were tasty refreshments and goulash from the Hunting Association Delňa.     There was also an information stand of the OOCR Region Šariš, where visitors could pick up brochures, maps, tips for trips and a small thematic souvenir. The organizers from the Municipality of Ruská Nová Ves expressed their satisfaction with the attendance and the positive response from the public. The event once again confirmed the potential of the Zbojnice Castle as a place that combines history, culture and experiences for all generations.   Thank you for your partnership support Ministry of Tourism and Sport of the Slovak Republic.
