Discovering Prešov: May excursion to the treasures of eastern Prešov

Prešov once again came alive with an atmosphere of exploration and discovery. May event Discovering Prešov brought the participants an interesting walk through the streets of the eastern part of the city, during which they got to know important historical buildings, architecture and stories connected with the rich past of the Šariš metropolis.

The route of the excursion led from the Franciscan Square with the dominant Church of St. Joseph and the adjacent monastery. Participants then walked past the former Women's Royal Teachers' Institute or the historic Sancta Maria Institute. There was also a stop at the former Royal Catholic Gymnasium, the Neolog Jewish Synagogue and the County House, which are among the important architectural and cultural monuments of the city.

The event offered not only a glimpse into the history of Prešov, but also an opportunity to meet interesting personalities. Participants of the excursion were personally invited by the renowned cartoonist Fedor Vico to the exhibition of cartoon humour GOLDEN COURT 2026. This year's theme of the exhibition is dedicated to beer and visitors can see it in the premises of the Russian House in Prešov.

Discovering Prešov once again confirmed that the history of the town can captivate the general public and creates a space for learning about the cultural heritage of the region in an unconventional and experiential way.

The project is implemented with the financial support of the Ministry of Tourism and Sport of the Slovak Republic.
