OOCR Región Šariš joined the info tour Royal Cities, which connected Levoča, Bardejov, Kežmarok and Stará Ľubovňa. The five-day programme showed the power of cooperation and the potential of extending the project to the royal city of Prešov.
From 22 to 26 September 2025, representatives of the OOCR Region Šariš participated in the professional inforoute „Royal Cities“, which presented the unique cultural and historical richness Levoča, Bardejov, Kežmarok and Stara Ľubovňa. The five-day trip was an opportunity to gain an insight into a project that brings together the four Free Royal Cities into one interconnected tourism product - with the aim of fostering joint promotion, cultural cooperation and sustainable tourism development.
During the five days, the participants got acquainted with the most important UNESCO monuments, historical cores of cities, castles, museums, sacral buildings and traditional architecture. The programme was complemented by gastronomic experiences, cultural performances and presentations by local producers, which confirmed the strong link between history, tradition and contemporary tourism.
The participants visited, among others, the Gothic altar of Master Paul in Levoča, the Jewish suburbium and Zborov Castle in Bardejov, the wooden articular church in Kežmarok or Ľubovniansky castle with an open-air museum and the Castle Distillery. Each town presented its unique story and confirmed that the Royal Cities brand has great potential to appeal to both domestic and international visitors.
The info tour was jointly organised by OOCR Tatry-Spiš-Pieniny, OOCR Šariš - Bardejov and OOCR North Spiš - Pieniny, which have shown through their cooperation that joint marketing and a unified presentation of the regions bring more added value than individual campaigns.
For OOCR Region Šariš participation in this info tour was a valuable experience and inspiration for further development of cooperation. In the future, we would like to be involved in the continuation of the project and expand its concept to include the royal city of Prešov with its surroundings, which with its historical and cultural value naturally complements the mosaic of royal towns of Slovakia.
We believe that the common linking of territories that have a strong identity, historical heritage and authentic atmosphere will contribute to building an attractive and competitive tourism product with national and international reach.
We thank our partners for the invitation and inspiring cooperation:
