COME TO THE CASTLE OF SHARIŠ “TO BE BEATEN”
Robbers at Šariš Castle! On 21 August 2022, you can experience the unrepeatable atmosphere of brigandage at Šariš Castle. You will be drawn directly into the action as part of the brigand „work“ and entertainment.
The Šariš Castle Games are one of the largest events of their kind in the Prešov Region. Every year it attracts more than 3 thousand visitors and all ages look forward to the always differently themed programme.
This time it will be 15th annual programme full of brigand history opened at 2 p.m. on the main stage. Encounters with robbers in different variations can be avoided throughout your stay in the castle area, and not only as part of the accompanying programme of the Friendly Games of Robbers and Robbers.
“You can expect bandit passes, ambushes but also period songs and dances and a lot of other interactive entertainment. The robbers are lapaji and will show you their mastery of robbing. So watch out for your gold coins, pennies or ducats,” informed Mária Gáborová, head of the Department of Culture, Sport and Youth at the Municipal Office in Veľký Šariš.
From a different keg will be the performance of falconers, which is prepared from 16.30. Children will be delighted by the theatre - Polepetko, there will also be a medieval carousel and other accompanying programme for the little ones.
The historical-theatrical show will offer the services of an executioner in a medieval torture chamber, and a dereche in the arras will be prepared for those who can't do without their afternoon „nap“ even off their couch. The brigands will be happy to train everyone in the brigand's dance, while the representatives of the fair sex will be waiting for the heroes in front of the medieval beauty parlour, „period dress rehearsals and photo shoots allowed“, stressed the head of the Department of Culture.
SELF-MADE JEWELLERY AND FINE DELICACIES
The educational part of the Sunday programme will consist of demonstrations of blacksmith's art, traditional coin minting or something from the history of knitting.
For children and adults there is a workshop focused on the production of period jewellery, „so that from the castle everyone, both skilled and less skilled, can take away not only an experience but also a handmade ring or earrings,” said Mária Gáborová.
Šariš Castle Games always have their gastro-fans, so not only for them will be prepared fine delicacies. For example, kendice pancakes or potato loaves prepared by a clever team from Folkmar, traditionally we will also serve „Šarišský hamburger“, pierogi will be cooked by women from Herliany and so on.
