On Saturday, 25 October 2025, the picturesque Sigordská valley in the heart of the Slanské hory Mountains became a centre of active relaxation and exploration. A thematic cycling event took place here „Cycling where the tracks have disappeared“, which combined sport, history and natural heritage into a unique experience for all ages.
Participants graduated approximately 14 kilometres long easy route, which led along the footsteps of the former Slanská forest railway - technical monument, which in the past played an important role in the transport of timber and goods between Solivar and the Slanské Hills. Today, these places are gaining a new dimension - instead of rumbling trains, they are peaceful cycle paths, that invite you to explore the region at a slow pace, with respect for nature and history.

The aim of the event was to support the development of tourism in the Slanské vrchy subdestination through active forms of leisure and experiential exploration of the territory. During the trip, the cyclists could listen to stories about the history of Solivar, the forest railway and the canal, but also to interesting lectures on the development of cycling, recreational opportunities and sustainable development of the region.
The event was held in friendly and community atmosphere, where cycling, nature and regional history enthusiasts met. Participants took away not only a sporting experience, but also inspiration - that even defunct tracks can get a new lease of life as modern cycle routes linking the past with the future.
The route of the bicycle tour is part of Slanská cyklomagistrála, which continues on to the village of Červenica. This cycling route offers a varied combination of natural scenery, cultural monuments and resting places, making it an attractive part of the offer cycling tourism in the Šariš region.
The event was realized in the framework of project for the development of the Slanské vrchy subdistinction, with financial support Ministry of Tourism and Sport of the Slovak Republic.
