Prešov Musical Spring 2026 or when the city will ring with the sounds of spring for the 65th time

Spring in the city Prešov has its unmistakable form. Apart from the first sunny days and blossoming trees, it also brings music that fills the historic spaces with emotion and an exceptional atmosphere.
Prešov Music Spring is one of the oldest and most important music festivals in Slovakia and in 2026 it will write its 65th chapter.

The festival will take place during March and April in the concert hall of PKO Čierny orol and will offer a varied programme. It combines classical music, choral singing, chamber projects and jazz overlaps. Each concert is a separate artistic story, but together they create a coherent mosaic of musical moods - from intimate chamber moments to powerful orchestral climaxes.

The opening ceremony of the festival will include Musical tribute to Eva Zacharovaj, an outstanding personality of Slovak choral art. The emotional evening will feature performances by the women's choir Vocals and the mixed choir Nostro Canto, which will pay tribute to her pedagogical and artistic legacy.

The programme continues with the project Pictures from Slovakia, where classical music meets folk inspiration. Audiences can look forward to the combination of the Spectrum Quartett, the band Nogaband and the vocal group Ulijanka, with works by composers such as Béla Bartók, Leoš Janáček and Eugen Suchoň.

The festival will also offer a jazz evening performed by AMC Trio and renowned guitarist Ulf Wakenius - a musical dialogue full of improvisation, virtuosity and sensitive moments. The chamber line of the festival will be strengthened by a concert of the composer Ľubica Čekovská and Slovak Quartet, which will bring contemporary works in a precise interpretation.

The final concert will belong to Slovak Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Ewald Danel. An elegant combination of interpretive confidence and musical energy will symbolically close the festival.

Prešov Music Spring is more than a series of concerts. It is a tradition that has been cultivating the city's musical environment for decades and bringing listeners encounters with art at a high level. Each year confirms that music has the power to unite generations and create moments that will never be forgotten.

Come and listen to the tones that fill Prešov with an exceptional atmosphere every spring and become part of a tradition that combines music, emotion and shared experience.
