The most beautiful shots of the Prešov Region will be seen by the public in the Solivar Museum

The most beautiful photographs of the Prešov Region for the year 2024 will again become part of a travelling exhibition. These are the award-winning images of the 12th edition of the photographic competition Go and Shoot, which are printed on large formats. The exhibition in the premises of the Solivar Museum will run from 13 December 2024 to 28 February 2025.   The organiser of the photo competition Go and take pictures is the Regional Tourism Organisation (KOCR) North-East of Slovakia. The aim is to present the beauty and attractions of the Prešov Region to the general public. The twelfth year of the competition surpassed previous years, the competition was entered by 1060 shots From 245 photographers. Apart from Slovaks, Poles and Czechs were also represented.   The international jury awarded the first three places for each of nine competition categories. In addition, special awards and honourable mentions were presented. The public also chose their favourite in an online vote. Winner of the vote became a shot of the night sky in Poloniny by the author Ondrej Magda - A shooting star, dare I wish.         „We are pleased that the images from the whole region resonated with the public and especially the photo from Poloniny, for which we have created a special category in the 12th year of the photo competition. Poloniny is an extraordinary location of the Prešov Region, offering a completely different type of experiential and non-mass tourism. One of the fascinating attractions is the Poloniny Night Sky Park, which is captured in the winning image of the public vote,“ said Martin Janoško, director of KOCR Northeast of Slovakia. As he added „AboutThe High Tatras were a great attraction for photographers again this year. There is probably no organization and competition that has so many shots of the Tatras from different angles and from all sides of the world, Some of them can be enjoyed by the public at this year's travelling exhibition.“   During the opening ceremony on 13 December, prizes will be awarded to the authors of the winning photographs. The travelling exhibition consists of 60 pictures, which are printed in large formats A1 and A2, which enhances the power of the shots and the pleasure of seeing them. Invitation to the opening and exhibition belongs to all who want to be inspired by the impressive images and get inspiration for exploring the Prešov region. The exhibition in the premises of the Solivar Museum will last until 28 February 2025. It will then move to other towns, spas and entertainment and shopping centres in order to present the attractions of the Prešov Region to the general public.

The Go and Shoot Photo Contest is open annually to professional and amateur photographers. Their task is to capture tourist attractions, nature, culture, traditions, sports activities and people of the Prešov region in thematic categories. The expert jury awarded the first three places for each of the nine categories. At the same time, the jury also awarded special award GRAND PRIX, which he received Anton Hričan behind the picture The man in the hat. The prize of the organizer of the competition KOCR Northeast of Slovakia will be awarded to Róbert Kučák for his photo from the High Tatras called In the footsteps of a hunter. The special guest of the jury, musician Peter Cmorik, it became a winter shot of a wooden St. Paraskeva Temple in the village of Dobroslava from Dávid Palička.
