Šariš region presented itself abroad and at home

The Regional Tourism Organisation (hereinafter referred to as "OOCR") Region Šariš is becoming more and more known not only to Slovak but also to foreign visitors. Already at the beginning of 2023, it participated in two international fairs, where it presented the best of the region.

IMTM Tel Aviv, Israel

In the days 14 - 15 February 2023 the Šariš Region participated for the first time ever at an international tourism fair IMTM TLV 2023 in Tel Aviv. It was one of the largest tourism fairs in the Mediterranean, attended by approximately 100 countries. The Šariš region under the auspices of Slovakia Travel presented Slovakia to Israeli visitors. The good news is that Israelis are attracted by Slovakia, our nature, spas and Jewish monuments. Israeli tourists are among the best foreign tourists in terms of the number of overnight stays in our territory. We also have a lot to offer them in our region. During the fair, we established cooperation with Israeli journalists who will take part in an info tour of our region this autumn.

UTAZÁS Budapest, Hungary

In a week (23 - 26 February) we have once again made ourselves visible during the biggest travel trade fair in Hungary. More than 100 exhibitors from 34 countries presented themselves at the Hungexpo exhibition centre. Visitors were interested in how to extend their stay in eastern Slovakia beyond the Košice region, which is quite familiar to most. Also during of the Budapest UTAZÁS fair we have started preparations for Hungarian journalists who will take part in an info tour of our region in May this year.

HOLIDAY WORLD & REGION WORLD Prague, Czech Republic

In March, we continued to showcase our region. We took part in the 31st International Fair Holiday world & Region world in Prague (17 - 19 March 2023), which is the largest in Central Europe.

"Czech visitors like to get to know our country, but we can still surprise them with unique places they don't know about. Our region still has a lot to offer them through natural scenery, unique places or cultural and historical monuments," said the employee of OOCR Región Šariš.

During the fair, in addition to the presentation of the Šariš region, we gave visitors several prizes from our region, which were part of a knowledge quiz. One of the prizes was vouchers for a period dinner at Šariš Castle and a bread baking workshop. Slovakia was the partner country of the fair, presenting tourism across the country under the auspices of Slovakia Travel.
The promotion of our country and our region was covered during the foreign exhibitions by the national organization for the promotion of tourism Slovakia Travel and the Ministry of Transport of the Slovak Republic.

ITF Slovakiatour Bratislava, Slovakia

Šariš region was again part of the Slovak tourism fair ITF Slovakiatour in Bratislava (20 - 23 April). In the Bratislava Inchebe, the Prešov Region was presented to visitors by the Regional Tourism Organisation of the North-East of Slovakia in cooperation with the member tourism organisations of which we were a part.

The Danubius Gastro Gastronomy Exhibition and the Motor Show were held simultaneously in Inchebe, covering products and services from nearly 250 exhibitors from 13 countries.

"We introduced visitors to our publications, tour options, sights and unique experiences at the destination. They were particularly interested in the Šariš Castle Route and the high number of castles and ruins in the Šariš region. Their attention was drawn to the unique opals from the Slovak Opal Mines. Visitors could thus get a glimpse of the real treasures of the region, which are deeply hidden underground," said Bartková.

The stand also attracted thermal spa enthusiasts who were interested in the possibilities of Bardejov Spa treatments with a tasting of water from the healing springs of Bardejov Spa.

The event is realized with the financial support of the Ministry of Transport of the Slovak Republic. Implemented with the financial support of the Ministry of Transport of the Slovak Republic.
